Half Houses St Albans
Typological study of half houses in St Albans, City of Brimbank, 2019
This unusual typological study of temporary housing for post-war migrants in St Albans, identified over 100 examples of the type. The study relied heavily on community engagement and private archives, and also provided measured drawings and photographic recording of examples.
For this project we:
Identified and mapped examples through aerial photos and fieldwork
Wrote a contextual history of the half-houses
Provided an assessment of the values of half houses
Presented a paper on the half-houses at the 2020 Urban History Planning History Conference, Launceston
